Corryvreckan whirlpool is situated in the narrow strait between the islands of Jura and Scarba, in Argyll and Bute, off the west coast of mainland Scotland.  This amazing but treacherous place is shrouded in mystery and folklore. 

The Corryvreckan is the third largest whirlpool on earth and one of the most dangerous stretches of water around the British Isles. It is known to be calm at certain times of the year but when the whirlpool awakens it usually starts with a massive wave demonstrating the power of nature over mankind.
